New London was faced with extreme weather in the early morning hours of August 7, 2013.

In the aftermath of this storm, which swept across the Fox Valley, thunderstorms with winds of more than 100 mph and two tornados caused at least one weather-related fatality, destroyed a church, barns and other buildings.
